ABOUT US
2016-2022
2015 - The Formative Years
Parthian was formed in 2015 by long-time friends Adam Faris and DJ Dixon. The idea behind the project was simple – they both wanted to create the music they wanted to listen to with no pre-conceived notions of what it should sound like.
With this idea in mind, the duo set off to begin work on their first material, which would materialize as their first EP Perpetual Deconstruction, released in Winter 2016. But before the first EP could be finished, the duo needed to fill out the rest of the lineup.
2016-2021 - First EP & The OG Lineup
Parthian initially tapped guitarist Andrew Cox to take the role of rhythm guitarist. While the band acclimated to being a three piece, Andrew introduced the rest of Parthian to a friend of his, JD Ream, who was a bassist looking for a new gig.
After a few trial practices, the original lineup of Parthian was formed, consisting of Adam Faris on lead guitar and vocals, Andrew Cox on rhythm guitar, JD Ream on Bass, and DJ Dixon on drums.
Together they would write, record, and release their first-ever EP, Perpetual Deconstruction, which melded together elements of Metalcore and death metal. While this EP’s sound and production quality is a far cry from what they release today, this EP paved the way for what was to come, especially the final track of the EP, Rigor Mortis, which began to integrate more death metal and progressive metal influences into the sound.
This lineup would go on to play several shows over the next two years, including opening up for bands like Lorna Shore, Miss May I, Ice Nine Kills, and many more.
During 2017, the original lineup would see several changes, with Andrew Cox moving out of state, and the band departing with bass player JD Ream. Filling the shoes of bass player came Jacky Patrick, long-time friend and family member of the band.
For the next year and a half Parthian would continue to work on material that would eventually become Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn, while also playing live shows as a three piece unit, with no heir apparent for departed guitar player Andrew Cox.
Then, in summer 2018 DJ Dixon also departed the band, moving out of state, which put Parthian on indefinite hiatus, leaving the future of the band clouded.
2022 - Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn
Several years passed with little movement in regard to new material from Parthian, until founding members Adam Faris and DJ Dixon had a discussion regarding the material that had been written but not recorded for the, at-the-time, unannounced Parthian full-length debut.
After several discussions regarding what the two wanted out of music, they agreed, along with Jacky Patrick to move forward with the writing and recording of a debut album, going so far as having DJ fly in from out of state to record drums.
This material would come together as the album Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn, and in the fall of 2021, the trio shuffled off, along with Producer Scott Spriggs to a studio with no air conditioning in 100 degree heat for a week straight.
The band crushed hundreds of cans of beer, went delirious at times, and had their fair share of lovers’ quarrels as they put in the hours to record their full-length debut.
Then in summer 2022 Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn was officially ready for consumption, being released everywhere that music can be released.
Right before the release of the album, Parthian was put into contact with a local guitar player, Justin Ronk, who was in the market for a new gig after spending years honing his skills on personal projects.
The band met with him and instantly had a connection, with Justin joining the band officially in July 2022.
Starting in August 2022, the newly minted four piece would go on to play shows all over the continental United States, with DJ having moved back to pursue his dream of playing and writing music he loves.
2023-2024
2023 - Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn (Now with 100% Less Vocals)
After having spent the better part of two years touring in support of Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn, Parthian again endured a lineup change, with long-time bass player Jacky Patrick exiting the band.
Parthian refused to let the lineup change affect the momentum they had been able to gain in support of the album, and through that, were able to meet bass player Noah Ganesha.
Noah slid in as bass player for Parthian throughout 2023, supporting the band through several short tours that saw them being blessed to share the stage with metal powerhouses.
While they continued to support Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn, even releasing a fully instrumental version of the album in 2023, the band was in the initial phases of writing their newest album.
2024+ New EP & The Return of a Legend
As Parthian rung in the new year, having shown a few new tracks to the public via their live shows, the band began to settle in to start the full writing and recording process for their new album.
In February 2024 the process began in earnest with Parthian beginning to track demo drums to record the final guitar, bass, and vocal tracks to for their as-of-now untitled EP. While this process was starting to unfold and unexpected lineup change happened when former bass player Jacky Patrick was brought back into the fold, reuniting the band that had recorded and supported Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn.
Currently they are in the studio working on the final versions of the tracks that will become their newest EP and are set to share the stage with one of their favorite bands, Rivers of Nihil, in May 2024.
Stay tuned for further updates on the new album!!
